Under 10 trucks? Compare the math — the Vektor TMS alternative.
Vektor is a full TMS with published per-truck pricing — $30 a truck, with a $300 monthly minimum that covers your first 10. That minimum is what decides it for a small carrier: at five trucks you pay $300 either way. If you already dispatch elsewhere and need settlements and DOT compliance, Fleetive is $69 at five trucks.

Why carriers switch from Vektor TMS to Fleetive
No $300 floor: a 2–9 truck carrier pays $29–$99 instead of $300 for settlements and compliance.
Built for carriers that already dispatch somewhere else and do not want to switch systems to fix pay and paperwork.
Itemized settlements, DQ files and FMCSA safety on a flat fleet-size price — 14-day trial, no card.

Vektor does more. The question is whether a small fleet needs all of it.
An honest look at Vektor TMS vs. Fleetive for an owner-operator or small carrier.
Credit where due: Vektor is the most complete product in this comparison set. Its site lists dispatch, load management and tracking, AI that turns emailed tenders into orders, IFTA from ELD mileage, settlements with direct deposit and 1099-NEC generation, a 47-point driver qualification checklist with alerts at 30, 15 and 7 days, live CSA scores, drug-testing reminders, and a free driver app in more than twenty languages. It publishes its prices, needs no contract, and offers a two-week trial with no credit card.
The catch for a small carrier is the floor. Vektor charges $30 per active truck, but never less than $300 a month — the minimum covers ten trucks. A two-truck operation pays $300; so does a nine-truck one. Above ten trucks the per-truck rate keeps climbing with the fleet: $360 at twelve, $750 at twenty-five.
Fleetive is not a TMS — no dispatch, no IFTA, and it does not move money. It covers the settlements and DOT-compliance half: itemized settlements, driver qualification files, expirations and FMCSA safety, priced by fleet band at $29, $69, $99 or $179. If you need dispatch in the same system, Vektor is the stronger buy. If you need the back office, Fleetive costs less at every size up to 25 trucks.
The break-even math, one fleet size at a time
Vektor’s published formula is the greater of $300 or $30 per active truck. Run it across a small fleet: 1 to 10 trucks pay $300 a month, 15 trucks pay $450, 16 pay $480 and 25 pay $750. Fleetive’s bands are $29 for 1–2 trucks, $69 for 3–7, $99 for 8–15 and $179 for 16–25. There is no fleet size up to 25 trucks where Vektor costs less for the settlements-and-compliance work.
Over a year at five trucks that is $3,600 against $828 paid monthly, or $690 on Fleetive’s annual plan. At fifteen trucks it is $5,400 against $1,188.
The fair counterweight: Vektor’s price includes dispatch, tender intake, IFTA, direct deposit and a driver app. If you would otherwise pay for a separate dispatch system and a payroll service, Vektor’s bundle can come out ahead even with the $300 floor. The math only favours Fleetive when dispatch is already handled — by a load board, a broker portal or a spreadsheet that works.
If you trial Vektor, test the three things that decide it: run one real settlement with your own pay contract, open a driver’s qualification checklist and see whether it matches what your auditor expects, and check whether you will actually use the dispatch side you are paying for.
