  • ✓ Free trial length and card requirement
  • ✓ Who it honestly suits better than us
The short answer

Decide first whether you want a TMS (dispatch, invoicing and settlements in one) or settlements without changing how you dispatch. For a low-priced TMS, TruckingOffice and TruckLogics publish prices from $25 and $39.95 a month. For settlements together with DOT compliance and driver qualification files, Fleetive (that’s us) is $29–$179 a month by fleet size. Growing fleets that want a modern TMS look at Truckbase, Alvys or Vektor; enterprises at McLeod.

TOOL BY TOOL

The nine options, honestly

What each is, where it genuinely beats the others — including where it beats us — and what choosing it costs you.

Fleetive

Our product
Pricing:
$29 (1–2 trucks) / $69 (3–7) / $99 (8–15) / $179 (16–25) per month; annual billing two months free; 26+ trucks custom. Every plan includes settlements.
2 trucks
$29/mo
7 trucks
$69/mo
15 trucks
$99/mo

Fleetive calculates driver settlements from a pay contract set once per driver: per mile, percentage of gross, flat per load or salary. Accessorials such as detention, layover and lumper, bonuses, advances recovered in full or in part, and recurring deductions such as escrow, truck lease, insurance and ELD fees all land on one itemized statement the driver can open on their phone, with year-to-date. On percentage contracts the carrier’s cut can show as a dispatch-fee deduction or stay off the statement as a revenue share; net pay is the same either way.

Where it wins: settlements and DOT compliance — driver qualification files, CDL and medical-card expiry alerts, documents — in one app at a flat price that does not grow per driver or per settlement.

Where it does not: Fleetive is not a TMS. It does not dispatch loads, invoice brokers or track IFTA mileage, and it does not withhold tax or move money — you pay drivers the way you do now. If you need dispatch and invoicing in the same system, the TMS options below are the better fit.

TruckingOffice

Pricing:
Basic (FTL): $25/month for 1–2 trucks, $55 for 3–7, $90 for 8+. Pro (FTL & LTL): $35 / $75 / $130. PC*MILER add-on extra. No contract.

TruckingOffice is a long-running TMS for small carriers. Driver settlements are created from dispatch, alongside invoicing, expense tracking and IFTA/IRP reporting.

Where it wins: price and breadth for a one- or two-truck operation — it is the cheapest published TMS here, and a 30-day trial with no card is the longest on this list.

Where it costs you: settlements are one module of a dispatch product rather than the centre of it. The pages we read describe dispatch, invoicing, expenses and IFTA; we did not find driver qualification file tracking listed, so check before relying on it for a DOT audit.

TruckLogics

Pricing:
Monthly: $39.95 (1–2 trucks), $79.95 (3–7), $199.96 (8–14), $249.95 (15–24); lower when billed yearly ($35.96 / $71.96 / $179.96 / $224.96). 25+ trucks by quote. IFTA $24.95 per report.

TruckLogics combines dispatch, invoicing and accounting with driver settlements, including reimbursements, recurring deductions and a record of the payments made to drivers by cash, check, card or ACH.

Where it wins: if you want settlements generated from the same loads you dispatch and invoice, TruckLogics keeps it in one system, and the per-fleet-size pricing is published.

Where it costs you: at 8–14 trucks it lists $199.96 a month, about twice Fleetive’s price for that fleet size, and the 7-day trial is short. It is a TMS first, so dispatch and accounting rather than DOT compliance files are its focus.

Truckbase

Pricing:
No rate card. Truckbase states pricing by truck, driver, load, flat annual or custom, with $290/month (billed annually) as the minimum.

Truckbase is a TMS built around fast load entry: an AI load importer, instant invoicing and QuickBooks sync, with settlements generated in one click and pay sheets sent to drivers.

Where it wins: a polished, modern TMS for fleets that have outgrown spreadsheets on the dispatch side as well as the pay side.

Where it costs you: the $290-a-month minimum is billed annually, there is no published self-serve trial, and it is priced for a fleet that needs a full TMS rather than settlements alone.

Vektor TMS

Pricing:
$30 per truck per month for 1–25 trucks, with a $300 monthly minimum that covers the first 10 trucks; lower per-truck rates above 25. No contracts.

Vektor is a full TMS: dispatch, AI tender intake, IFTA and invoicing, with settlements that include direct deposit and 1099-NEC generation, a 47-point driver qualification checklist, live CSA scores and a free driver app.

Where it wins: the most complete product here — settlements, payouts and compliance inside a full TMS — with published per-truck pricing, no contract and a no-card trial.

Where it costs you: the $300 monthly minimum means a 3-truck carrier pays the same as a 10-truck one, so it only gets efficient as the fleet grows.

ITS Dispatch (Truckstop)

Pricing:
Owner-Operator (1–2 trucks) $50/month; Carrier $75/month; TMS Carrier Pro $99/month; Dual Authority $105/month; unlimited users. IFTA $5 per truck.

ITS Dispatch, now part of Truckstop, covers load and driver management, dispatch, one-click invoicing, IFTA and driver settlements.

Where it wins: if you book freight through Truckstop, a TMS from the same company keeps loads and settlements close together, with unlimited users on every plan.

Where it costs you: settlements are a feature of a dispatch tool. The product page we read lists loads, dispatch, invoicing, IFTA and settlements; we did not find driver qualification files listed.

Alvys

Pricing:
Foundations, Growth and Scale plans, all "quoted based on volume of loads"; no per-user or per-seat fees; free implementation.

Alvys is a TMS covering load creation, dispatch, invoicing and IFTA, with driver and carrier settlements and in-app paystubs for drivers.

Where it wins: a modern, load-volume-priced TMS with free implementation and no per-seat fees.

Where it costs you: you cannot see a price without a sales conversation, and as a full TMS it is more system than a carrier that only needs settlements and compliance will use.

Toro TMS

Pricing:
No published pricing; demo first. Month-to-month available; support included in the subscription.

Toro is a TMS built for bulk haulers: dispatch to the driver’s phone, invoicing from driver documents, IFTA from ELD miles, and driver pay per mile, hourly, by percentage or a mix, with itemized settlements. It also stores CDLs and medical cards with expiry notifications.

Where it wins: settlements driven directly from dispatch, hourly pay (which Fleetive does not offer), in-person implementation and month-to-month terms.

Where it costs you: no published pricing, and beyond CDL and medical-card reminders its site does not list a full driver qualification file or FMCSA safety monitoring.

McLeod (LoadMaster)

Pricing:
No published pricing; quote or demo only.

McLeod’s LoadMaster is an enterprise carrier TMS with billing and settlements automation and a driver portal for pay details, alongside accounting and brokerage products.

Where it wins: depth and scale. For a large fleet with an accounting team, it is the established enterprise choice.

Where it costs you: it is sized and sold for enterprises; a 5- or 15-truck carrier is buying far more system than the pay problem needs.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

Do you need a TMS, or just settlements?

Eight of the nine tools here are transportation management systems: settlements are one module beside dispatch, load tracking and invoicing. That is the right buy if you want to move your dispatch into new software — settlements then come from the same loads you invoice.

If your loads already live in a broker portal, a load board or a spreadsheet, a TMS asks you to change how you dispatch to fix how you pay. A settlement-focused tool calculates pay from the loads you enter and leaves dispatch alone. That is the gap Fleetive’s settlements fill, together with the DOT compliance most small carriers are also tracking by hand.

Settlements are not payroll

A settlement works out what the driver earned; payroll withholds and files tax and moves the money. None of the tools here states on its own pages that it files payroll tax. Paying leased-on owner-operators, the settlement is the whole job; paying W-2 drivers, pair settlement software with a payroll provider. More on that split on our trucking payroll page.

Free options, honestly

No tool here publishes a free settlements plan. The longest no-card trial is TruckingOffice’s 30 days; Fleetive’s is 14 days, no card. To check one load without signing up, use the free truck driver pay calculator or the owner-operator pay calculator, and read how to read a settlement sheet before you compare statements.

METHODOLOGY

How we compared these

  • 1. Disclosure first: Fleetive is one of the products on this list. Our row is marked, every competitor gets a use case where it beats us, and we state what Fleetive does not do.
  • 2. Prices come from the vendor’s own site, linked in each section. Where a vendor publishes nothing, we say “Quote only” rather than estimate or repeat a directory’s figure.
  • 3. No star ratings. We hold no first-party review data for competing products, so we publish none.
  • 4. Pricing moves. Everything here is as published on 30 September 2026; confirm with the vendor before you buy.

FAQ

Choosing driver settlement software

What is the best driver settlement software for a small trucking company?

It depends on whether you also need a TMS. If you want dispatch, invoicing and settlements in one system, TruckingOffice ($25/month) and TruckLogics ($39.95/month) are the low-priced published options. If you need settlements plus DOT compliance and driver files, and dispatch is handled elsewhere or by hand, Fleetive covers both from $29/month. Large fleets with accounting teams look at enterprise TMS such as McLeod.

Is there free driver settlement software?

None of the tools compared here publishes a free plan for settlements. The longest no-card trial we found is TruckingOffice’s 30 days; Fleetive’s is 14 days with no card. For checking a single load, Fleetive’s truck driver pay and owner-operator pay calculators are free and need no account.

What is the difference between driver settlement software and payroll software?

Settlement software works out what each driver earned from their loads and pay contract and produces an itemized statement. Payroll software withholds and files tax and moves the money. Carriers paying leased-on owner-operators usually need only settlements; carriers with W-2 company drivers use both. None of the settlement tools here claims on its own pages to file payroll tax.

Do I need a TMS to run driver settlements?

No. A TMS bundles settlements with dispatch and invoicing, which suits carriers who want one system for loads. If your loads live in a broker portal, a load board or a spreadsheet, settlement-focused software calculates pay from the loads you enter without making you switch dispatch tools.

Which settlement software handles owner-operator escrow and deductions?

TruckLogics, for one, lists recurring deductions alongside reimbursements; check each TMS’s settlement module for escrow specifically. Fleetive carries escrow / maintenance reserve, truck and trailer lease, insurance, ELD and permit fees and similar deductions on each driver’s pay contract every period, and records advances with a remaining balance that later settlements recover.
